2021 Village of Lowville DRI Application

Village of Lowville Downtown Revitalization Initiative
Round 5

The New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) is part of the State's economic development program to transform downtown neighborhoods into vibrant centers that offer a high quality of life and are magnets for redevelopment, business, job creation, and economic and housing diversity. In its fifth year, the program will invest $200 million in up to 20 additional downtowns statewide. Participating communities will be nominated by the state’s ten Regional Economic Development Councils (REDCs) based on the downtown’s potential for transformation. Within each region, the REDC will nominate either two downtowns to receive $10 million each or one downtown to receive an award of $20 million to develop a downtown strategic investment plan and implement key catalytic projects that advance the community’s vision for revitalization.

Downtown Lowville is trending in the right direction. In recent years, the Village has secured millions in both public and private investment, has attracted businesses and jobs, and has made a concerted effort to enhance its public realm. With proven ability to administer economic development initiatives, a demonstrated need for further improvement, and the pieces in place to effect real noteworthy transportation, Lowville has positioned itself to strategically and effectively leverage investment from the DRI. Here is what sets Lowville apart:
